On the brink of breaking up, a couple gets unintentionally embroiled in a bizarre murder mystery. As their journey to clear their name stakes them from one extreme circumstance to the next and solving the case, they need to figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night.

The Lovebirds is a 2020 upcoming American romantic comedy film directed by Michael Showalter and written by Aaron Abrams and Brendan Gall, from a story by Abrams, Gall and Martin Gero.
The Lovebirds was originally slated premiere at the Austin, Texas-based South by Southwest Film Festival before the event was cancelled, as well as was set to hit theaters on April 3 before being pulled by Paramount alongside A Quiet Place Part II and Blue Story. This also marks the second time the streaming service has acquired a film from the studio after surprise announcing during the 2018 Super Bowl Netflix would be debuting The Cloverfield Paradox after the game.



Release date

The movie was originally expected to open April 3 theatrically, but like several other titles, was pulled from the release schedule due to the exhibition coronavirus shutdown. Paramount has done deals with Netflix before in the past & Its rights were then sold to Netflix, who will release it digitally on May 22, 2020.
