Ponmagal Vandhal is an upcoming Indian Tamil-language court drama takes place in Ooty. written and directed by J. J. Fredrick in his debut, and produced by Suriya. Jyotika plays the lead in the film alongside various other veteran actors playing important roles.

Few weeks ago, news about Jyotika's Ponmagal Vandhal's digital release sparked a debate between producers and theatre owners The latter expressed dissatisfaction over the producer's decision to release the film directly on Amazon Prime instead of a theatre .
Ponmagal Vandhal was expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video during the first week of May.However, the release was put on hold after the Jyotika-starrer faced opposition from members of the Tamil film exhibitors’ association for skipping the traditional theater release. But finally today (May 15), Amazon Prime took to Twitter to announce the digital premiere of five South Indian films. Two Tamil films Ponmagal Vandhal (slated for 29 May), Penguin two Kannada films (Law, French Biriyani) and Malayalam film Sufiyum Sujatavum will directly stream on the platform we will let you know about those movies in our other blogs.
